Saidur Rahman elected SCCI president

Saidur Rahman Bachchu has been elected president of the Sirajganj Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s following election of the chamber’s board of directors.

At the same time, Amar Krishna Das was elected senior vice-president of Ordinary Group, while Abdul Kader and Liton Saha of Associate Group were elected vice-presidents.

After a full day of votazboard chairman TA Hamid Tanha officially announced the names of the winners at about 3:00a.m. They will serve on the board for the 2026–27 session.

According to the election board, a total of 63 candidates contested for 24 posts across the Ordinary and Associate groups.

Saidur Rahman Bachchu, also district BNP general secretary, was elected president with 326 votes, defeating his only rival, Ruhul Amin Siddique Khosru, who received 98 votes.

Besides the president, one SVP, two VPs and 20 directors were elected through direct votes from 424 members. The chamber had a total of 507 voters, of whom 424 cast their ballots.

Saidur said, ‘A transparent and well-organised election has been completed amid much enthusiasm.’
